A couple of weeks ago I received an award for my very serious, “grown up” day job. As an added bonus all of the honorees received a goody bag from Ermenegildo Zegna. As I was the only woman, I received a different goody bag, one from Dammann.
My goody bag contained a lovely checkered tea chest with four different loose-leaf teas and a spoon strainer.
I really like tea so this was the perfect gift, and I know at least one other lady (Hey BP!!!) who might read this and then run to get herself some tea, so here is a review of the teas I received.
Coquelicot Gourmand
This is a black tea with poppy flower, almond paste biscuit flavor and flower petals. It is a very soft tea, and tastes of berries. The first sip makes me think of cookies – it’s probably the almond. I like this tea very much and find it soothing. I think its best for a slow morning, especially one to be spent in bed watching Netflix.
Bali
Green tea with flower petals (flower petals eh? there’s a pattern here somewhere I’m sure), jasmine, litchi, grapefruit and rose. This was a very light green tea, the taste was very fresh, would probably taste best iced on a hot afternoon.
Passion de Fleurs

White tea, rose essence, apricot, passion fruit and rose petals (good thing I like flower petals in my tea). The loose leaf tea smells very rose-y which is a good thing. I don’t like passion fruit very much but I decided to try it anyways, mostly because of all the rose in it. To the taste there is definitely more passion fruit than rose but not too much, enough so that I can still be persuaded to drink this.
Pomme D’Amour
Black tea, bits of apple, flower petals, maraschino, caramel. This had a lot of caramel to it, It made me think of Christmas and that is never a bad thing. I drank it with a little bit of milk and think it would be great for a chilly day.
All in all, tea makes me happy, this was wonderful and everyone should drink more tea.
